T2MC

Master in Transition Metals in Molecular Chemistry (T2MC)

The Master “Molecular Chemistry” with the “Transition Metals in Molecular Chemistry” (T2MC) specialisation focuses on training skilful chemists capable of managing the various research, development and/or organizational aspects of a molecular chemistry project as well as making them aware of the modern constraints of chemistry (saving of material and energy, respect for the people safety, the environment and goods). Students are therefore trained in research and in being capable to integrate into the professional world.

Backed by the research activities of ICMUB (Institute of Molecular Chemistry of the Université Bourgogne Europe) and UTINAM (Universe, Time-Frequency, Interfaces, Nanostructures, Atmosphere and environment, Molecules), this training offer is oriented towards the fields of organometallic and coordination chemistry and their use for clean chemistry and sustainable development.

Moreover, it will also allow students to study the applications of molecular chemistry in the field of medical imaging, a new research area developed at ICMUB.

Last but not least, courses are mainly taught in English and will favour the student’s integration into the job market which is becoming more and more globalized. It is also an advantage for welcoming international students, and in particular students from the M1 of the University of Chemistry and Technology of Prague (UCT Prague).

Program, knowledge and developed skills :

At the end of their training, students will have a deeper understanding of scientific problems. They will develop their sense of initiative and their responsibilities. Students will be able to work in sectors of activity requiring a high level of scientific training to obtain productivity gains, material savings or quality control, both at the laboratory level and at the production stage.

The master offers global courses which allow the acquisition of many skills in the chemistry field but also of transversal skills:

It also allows to acquire solid knowldege and a good mastery in the molecular chemistry field in relation to transition metals:

Job prospect and study pursuits :

At the end of this training, students can work in every sector of activity concerned with the chemical or pharmaceutical sciences.

T2MC specialisation’s main job prospects are:

Entry requirements :

Students eligible to the Master T2MC programme must have obtained a degree equivalent to or higher than a Bachelor of Science. Background knowledge in general chemistry, molecular synthesis, and spectrometry is mandatory. Candidates must have very good academic qualifications and a very good practice of English.

Grants :

Scholarships will be awarded each year to high quality foreign students.

Site of the training

The two-year Master programme takes place at Université Bourgogne Europe, located in the scenic city of Dijon. Former capital city of the Duchy of Burgundy, Dijon is a medium-size French city, where you can enjoy a vibrant and active cultural life, as well as quick getaways to the countryside and the world famous neighbouring vineyards of the so-called “Golden coast” (city center, climates of the Burgundy vineyard, and gastronomy listed as world heritage sites in Dijon by Unesco). Life in Dijon is very affordable and accommodation easily accessible. The city is well-equipped with modern tramway and bus lines, making commuting between any place in Dijon and the University easy and convenient. Dijon is also host of several top-level professional sports teams (football, basketball, handball, rugby…), while also offering a large diversity of sports facilities.

Internships

During this course, you will have to complete an internship that shall not exceed 5 months in M1 and 6 months in M2 (if you do not choose to do block release training this year). This internship can be performed in France or abroad within a firm or an academic laboratory.
